Bindings
Description: | The binding is in very poor condition. There are wooden boards with the remains of a cloth (?) covering pasted to it; there are the studs remain from four metal squares, and a boss, also the remains of a metal clasp. The spine is badly damaged and the front board is detached. More of the clasp remains on the back board. The backboard also has the studs from corners and a boss, but the top right hand stud is missing. The binding may be original. A long note in a 19th-c. hand has been written on the pastedown on the front board. It is mainly concerned with the architecture in the illustrations. It suggest the MS may predate the 13th c., but also notes that the hand suggests it is 14th- or 15th-c. |

Condition: | Some pages have parts that are effaced from wear, but mostly the MS is in reasonable condition, apart from the binding. F. 26 is about 1 cm shorter at bottom, but the trimming looks original. F. 38 has a natural hole in bottom. On f. 76r a section at the bottom about 10 cm across has been stitched in; part of the illustration obviously got torn and then repaired. |
