| Front end papers (3): | Two modern endpapers in paper followed by one (original?) in vellum. On the top of the recto of the first endpaper, is printed: CODICE XI. / in foglio picciolo , di carta pecora / di fogli 74. / PARTE del Romanzo di Lancelloto in prosa. The verso of the folio is blank, as is the second folio. The vellum of the third endpaper is particularly thick and is bound upside-down to the first quire. On the recto, at the top center, an asterisk and, on the bottom of the page, written in a semigothic script (partly covered by one of the vignettes): "[...] petri filíus ser lorenci [...] Bertolamei de [...]". On the verso, a full page illustration in two registers by the same artist who also illustrated the rest of the MS. On the top half, a mounted knight with shield, helm and gualdrappe green and red divided by a diagonal yellow band, and a crowned figure talking to him (Guenevere with Galehot or with Lancelot?). On the bottom half, the same scene is drawn on the same 'cartoon', but the tinctures are different: white field divided by a green horizontal band. This image is identical to that of Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana fr. Z IX. See also Bisson 2008, 48. |
| End papers (3): | Two modern blank endpapers in paper followed by one (original?) in vellum. The recto of the latter presents scribbles and drawings (a human profile, a head of a wild boar ... ) and short inscriptions. It is possible to read a name: "Ridolfo / Ridolfo / dasangimingniano / dassangimingniano / dassangimingniano", and on the right "In ceste pa(r)tie dit lico(n)tes / che ta(n) demaine La(n)calot / i(n) la p(ri)son m[o]rgayne chel / [...] i(n) vers / et na este [...] una dome / ne [...] ??matina?? seloin[...]. On the verso, at the the top of the page: "q(ui)d scrise sicriba sen per con do mino vi via" and another hand adds: "viva in cel[...] d(omi)no feli(citer)". Under it: "ego sum qui sum tame(n) bonus [...]omes". Cf. also Bisson 2008, 48. |
