The background of the letter is gilt. The initial extends into a frame of red and blue bars, decorated with goldleaf and leafed tendrils of vine, at the end decorated with a gilt frame. The lower margin is inhabited by a bird, hare and dog. Major subdivision of the text are marked by smaller historiated initials (height: 4 to 8 lines), with similar decoration and tendrils extending into the margins. These initials mark the beginning of Jason's quest for the Golden Fleece (f. 5rb), the siege of Troy by Hercules (f. 14va), the departure for Troy (f. 26va), Greek assembly at Athens (f. 35vb), Achilles fighting a king (f. 41va), Hector fighting Patroclos (f. 52vb), assembly before Agamemnon (f. 69rb), a battle scene, including king Orcomenis (f. 76ra), battle between Greeks and Trojans (f. 95ra), the burial of Hector (f. 109rb), the thirteenth battle (f. 119va), battle scene (f. 140ra), a fallen king before the city (f. 151rb) and the Greeks sailing away from Troy (f. 161ra).
General decoration:The text is further structured by means of pen-decorated initials (height: 2 lines), alternating between red and blue, with flourishings in the contrasting colour.
