General information

Folios3
Folio notes:Fragments of one bifolium and two strips cut from an additional folio
LanguageLanguage object (3)
Approx. date?1250 to 1300
Date notesBased on the script. Possibly even before 1230 since the text appears to be copied above top line. The outer side of the first folio of the bifolium has been trimmed, as has the upper margin. Text has been lost in f. 1rb and f. 1va. Given that the strips of parchment with the entire height of the column have 36 lines, c. 2 lines have been lost at the top of the bifolium. The strips appear to have been cut from the same folio. On the recto side the first strip preserves the last words of column a and the majuscules of column b. The second strip preserves the last words of column b. On the verso, the second strip preserves the beginning of the lines of column a, the first strip has the first lines of column b.
Place(s) of production{unspecified}
No clear distinctive linguistic features. What remains of the decorated initial on the strips of parchment may suggest a provenance in the North of France.

Physical description

General illustration:None.
General decoration:The strokes preserve remnants of a decorared initial, presumably goldleaf on a field of scarlet framed in black ink (height: 8 lines), Further subdivisions are indicated by pen-decorated initials (height: 2 lines). Two blue initials with red flourishings survive (f. 1ra; f. 3vb). Possibly, these alternated with red initials with blue flourishings. However, no evidence survives.
