Physical description

No. of illustrations:197
General illustration:The title page (f. 1r) includes three miniatures and a decorative border. The framed miniatures on other pages are one or two columns in width (or wider still), and their architectural elements typically extend upwards into the margins. The artwork has been attributed to the so-called Maestro di Gherarduccio (Schmidt 1999, 36). For further details, see Hermann 1929, 138-52; and Jung 1996, 299-306.
General decoration:Major divisions are marked by large illuminated initials (height: chiefly 4 lines). There are also pen-flourished initials (height: 2 lines), alternating red and blue, with decoration in the contrasting colour.
Evidence of readership:Upper margin of f. 1r: 'quarante huit'. Maniculum points to name of Troilus on f. 3ra. Outer margin of f. 137r: bust of a man.
Foliations description:Modern foliation in the upper right-hand corner of recto sides, and the lower left-hand corner of verso sides.
