Physical description
General illustration: | 13 miniatures were planned (width: between half- and full-page; height: 10-16 lines). A miniature from another volume has been pasted into the space reserved for the first on f. 1r. It depicts a crowned eagle with a mouse in its beak, against a blue ground. The other spaces for miniatures (on ff. 7v, 12r, 14v, 19r, 25r, 37v, 46r, 56v, 62v, 73v, 81r, and 123r) have been left blank. |
General decoration: | Chapters begin with flourished initials (height: 2 lines) in red or blue, with decoration in the contrasting colour. Larger puzzle initials (height: 6-8 lines) are found on ff. 73v, 81r, and 92v. |
Evidence of readership: | In a 16th-c. hand on f. 138v: 'Vous qui avez le vent agre . et bien savez / flacter en court gardez vous bien q(ue) / le degre au dessendant ne vous soit court'. |

Scribe description: | A French cursiva script that displays the following traits: triangular single-compartment 'a'; looped ascenders; 'g' with two horns and a tail looping to the right; 'i' longa in initial position; majuscule 'R' in initial position; B-shaped 's' in final position; closed form of 'v' in initial position; 3-shaped 'z'. The scant abbreviation marks include 'q(ue)', nasal bars, and tironian 'et'. |
