General illustration:Two half-page miniatures in colour (ff. 147r and 172r), and nine grisailles (height: 9 to 12 lines), on ff. 86v, 110r, 115v, 142r, 205v, 297r, 325r, 361v, 391r. For further details, see the Casanatense catalogue, III:29. On the attribution to Loyset Liédet (or his atelier), see Di Domenico 1959 and van Buren-Hagopian 1996, 232.
General decoration:The prologue opens on f. 4r with an illuminated initial (height: 4 lines), incorporating an unexecuted shield, with a rich floral border. Other major divisions are similarly marked by decorated initials and borders. Chapters are marked by champ initials (height: 2 lines) in gold, red and blue. Champ paraphs mark the start of paragraphs. Chapter headings and numbers are rubricated. Majuscules are highlighted, and line-fillers (bars and flowers) are present in gold, red and blue.
Evidence of readership:On f. 426v, beneath the explicit, in a hand contemporary to that of the copyist: 'La toute <vostre> / vostre Jossíne de bríade / la toute votre fransoise / de Wínnízele'. On f. 427r, in the same hand: 'de alle uwe fransoíse / van Wínnízele'.
Foliations description:Two foliations, both defective: one printed in the lower right of recto sides; the other in pencil in the upper right of recto sides (the latter followed here).
