| Condition: | Low-grade parchment, thick, sometimes rather dark in appearance, and with numerous stitched or unstithced holes (e.g. f. 19) and holes within the ruled area (e.g. f. 33). The lower margins of ff. 15, and 101-2 have been cut out. f. 1r is particularly worn, and the sides of leaves have been repaired with paper, especially towards the beginning of the codex. Considerable creasing due to the tightness of the binding. |

| General illustration: | none |
| General decoration: | Numerous pen-flourished initials (height: 2 lines, occasionally 3) in red or green (with decoration in the opposing colour). These are of the 'Manerius Style'. The use of green is unusual for Champenois decoration and 'may have been adopted here in imitation of an exemplar coming from Normandy or Touraine' (Stirnemann 1993, 198). |
| Evidence of readership: | A 13th-c. hand has marked 'T' for Trojan and 'G' for Greek in the margins, in green ink (e.g. ff. 17rb, 18ra, 18rb, etc.). There are also 13th-c. pen trials (?): 'folx est qui aime' (lower margin of f. 38); and 'amor ma mis en g(ra)nt (base of f. 56). At the base of f. 14v is written in a 14th-c. hand: 'A ma dame de martignie madame / mauleu(ri)er saluz (et) bo(n)ne amor'. A 15th-c. hand has written vertically in the margins of ff. 51, 72v and 130v, e.g. 'A mon bon amy ??e(n)nuec?? de lauíllerus quí focít lafille ??bugey?? atere' (!) (f. 51). |
