LanguageLanguage object (44)
Approx. date?1250 to 1300
Date notesHarf-Lancner 2011, 210: 'from the middle or the second half of the 13th century'. Based on the script (double compartment 'a' with open and closed upper lobe, straight 's' and round 's' in final position, 'v' in initial position) a dating towards the end of the century, rather than 1250 is probable.
Place(s) of productionSaint-Quentin
A note in the same hand as the explicit on f. 242ra states 'En lan del incarnation . Mil (et) .iic. (et) .xxviii. fu / leues monseig(n)or saint Quentins el mois / De may'. Rather than referring to the year in which the manuscript was manufactured (as suggested on the verso side of the first flyleaf, the note commemorates that during the reconstruction of the collegiate church of Saint-Quentin the alleged relics of its patron saints were brought up from their tombs and displayed in the church. The couleur locale of this note may be associated with the place where the manuscript was manufactured or where it functioned.
