In the background, a mountainous forest landscape, all kinds of creatures (including a dragon and a unicorn) roam to the garden of Eden, lit by sun, moon and stars. The text begins with a rubricated titulus, followed by an initial (scarlet, with white flourishings on a field of goldleaf, height: 4 lines) the eye of which is decorated with vine. The page is framed in a fine double border with scarlet, blue and goldleaf. The margin is further decorated with acanthus, strawberries, cornflowers and ivy with goldleaf. |
General decoration: | The text is structured by means of rubricated tituli and plain initials (height: 2 lines), alternatingly blue and red. Further subdivisions are indicated by similar initials. Major parts of the text (e.g. Thebes, f. 75ra), sometimes start on a new folio. |
