Condition:Medium to lower quality vellum with holes (ff. 39, 43, 47, 55, 113, 117, 118), stitches (ff. 15, 30, 39, 47, 60, 106), also in the writing space. Some instances where the edge of the skin coincides with that of the leaf (ff. 30, 89). Generally in fair condition. The first folio is badly worn. The last folio (f. 120) is mutilated. The lower outer corner has been torn.

Physical description

General illustration:Unillustrated.
General decoration:The manuscript opens with a large pen-decorated puzzle initial (height: 6 lines). Major subdivisions are indicated by smaller puzzle initials (height: 3 lines). The text is further subdivided by means of plain initials (height: 2 lines) alternatingly blue and red.
Evidence of readership:Annotations, for the most part illegible or faded on ff. 1r ('Pertinet ?.?no ?arti?army', old shelfmark 'R 7664'), 87r, 89r, 120v ''Anno d(omi)n(i) millesimo [...]'. 15th-c. notes on the pastedown at the end of the MS 'Tant mag?.?el' 'Iste liber est ame qui (scribbles) joannes de a?...?. Other notes possibly referring to members of the Artois (?) family 'franconis', 'iste liber est mei?.?s ?Je? a?nn?y de a?rtys?'
Foliations description:Foliation in roman numerals in the upper right corner of the recto, sometimes trimmed. Modern foliation in arabic numerals in the upper right corner of the recto where the roman numerals have been cut.
