[Part 1]
General information
Folios | 1 |
Language | Language object (44) |
Approx. date | c. 1350 |
Date notes | Based on script. This is a semitextualis which has all the characteristics of the textualis except for the single-compartment 'a' which it shares with the cursiva. In this particular hand it is combined with some instances of double-compartment 'a', with a closed upper lobe. Only round 's' in final position. |
Place(s) of production | Northern FranceAlthough semitextualis was extremely popular in Italy, the fact that this hand does not share other features with Italian rotunda makes it rather improbable that this is an Italian manuscript. Linguistic properties suggest a Northern (Picard) provenance ('iou', 'cose'). |
