General description:The table of contents occupies folios 1ra to 18vb. Folio 19r. and 19va are left blank. At the bottom of folio 19rb is the opening rubric 'Sensuit le liure qui parle/ du commencent du monde iusq(ue)s au temps q(ue) iule cesar se / p(ar)tist de ro(m)me po(ur) co(n)quester fra(n)ce .'. Folio 20r opens with a large frontispiece representing Adam and Eve in Paradise.

General illustration:Large frontispiece representing Adam and Eve in Paradise, greeting their Creator. Animals (peacocks, bovines) are represented in pairs, leopards and cattle living peacefully alongside each other. Also depicted are two of the rivers of Paradise and the Tree of Knowledge. The cities in the background may refer to a different timeframe. It is suggested that the text is written on a band lying on the surface. The frontispiece is framed in a broad frame with a suggestion of three dimensions. The frontispiece includes a coat of arms, centered at the bottom of the frame (a crowned lion's head or tongued gules on a background azur, with a diagonal band or. The coat is framed gules.
General decoration:The texts opens with a large painted initial (blue, height: 6 lines) on a scarlet background decorated with a floral design in gold.
